How Cellulite Cupping Therapy helps in skin tightening
How Cellulite Cupping Therapy helps in skin tightening
Cupping is a practice dating back as early as 3000 BC throughout Asia and Europe. Practitioners use cups to create suction over targeted areas of skin. Cellulite is dimpled fat under the skin surface and usually shows up on thighs, hips, and buttocks. Cupping helps break up stagnation and move blood, increase circulation and lymphatic drainage, and resolve issues that are sometimes deep in the fascia and muscle layers to reduce cellulite.
How Does Cupping Work?
It works on the simple principle of healing. Cupping puts pressure on a targeted skin area, usually a wound. The red blood cells then gather in that area and help solve the issue. The practitioner then artificially brings red blood cells to the area that need healing.
Cupping for Cellulite
Cellulite is described in Traditional Chinese Medicine as being caused by stagnation or blockage of blood flow. It often occurs due to inadequate blood circulation, poor drainage in the lymph, fluid retention, and hormonal imbalances. Since cupping helps improve all the issues mentioned earlier, it can be beneficial in breaking up cellulite.
Procedure for Cupping-
- Cupping is done using glass, ceramic, bamboo, or silicone cups.
- Applying heat to the cup before placing it over the skin, removing oxygen and creating a vacuum.
- Using a vacuum device on the cup
- Massaging and gliding (dry-moving cupping therapy)
Usually, a combination of cupping and Chinese herbs is used both topically and internally. The cups are then placed on targeted areas for 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the treatment. Any one of the cupping techniques, stationary or running cupping, can be used. In the stationary technique, the cups are placed at one site and are not moved until they have to be removed. The results can be seen within 6 to 8 sessions.
How to Use Cups for Correcting Cellulite
- Apply body oil or cream over the area to be treated; this aids in the movement of cups.
- Place the cup in the treatment area, squeeze and release.
- Glide the cup using circular or back and forth motion.
- Continue for 15 minutes, repeating at least thrice a week. It can be gradually extended to daily sessions of 10 minutes each.
Cupping Therapy by Professionals
For most health matters, it is always a safe route to consult professionals. On your part, you only need to see if there are any cuts, bruises, or any underlying condition that might get worsened by the therapy.
Professionals use different approaches and treatments based on your health conditions, the issue at hand, and the areas to be targeted. Professionals who perform cupping therapy are acupuncturists, massage therapists, and physical therapists.
