5 Pro Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Next Waxing Session

Whether you are a regular at our wax salon or you just took a leap of faith to schedule your first appointment, you probably want to know how to get the most out of your next waxing session! After all, you’re dedicating time, effort, and money into waxing all your bits and pieces, so you want to make sure the benefits of waxing last as long as possible. Lucky for you, our experts have put together this list of five pro tips that will leave you looking and feeling luxurious for longer! Let’s check them out.
1. Let it Grow
While this may seem counterintuitive, as the goal is to get rid of unwanted hair, it is important to let your hair grow out slightly prior to your next waxing session. Ideally, hair should be about a quarter inch long or approximately the length of a grain of rice. This ensures that the wax can adequately adhere to the hair and effectively pull it out. On the other hand, your hair should not be too long, which leads us to our next tip!
2. Trim & Tweeze
As we have already mentioned, your hair needs to be long enough to be waxed, but it also cannot be too long. If your hair is longer than half an inch in the region you are planning on waxing, you may need to trim it down before your next waxing session. By taking clippers or shears and simply trimming the excess, you can ensure that your waxing appointment will be a success. Likewise, after your first wax, you may need to pull out the tweezers to attend to some rogue hairs in the regrowth process, however, you should never go in and shave between waxes.
3. Exfoliate Consistently
In order to help prevent irritation and ingrown hairs, as well as rid yourself of any dead skin and built-up sweat, dirt, or other, it is essential to exfoliate consistently. There are many different exfoliation options, such as cleansers with manual exfoliants like ground almonds or ones with chemical exfoliants that also encourage new cell growth. There are also exfoliating gloves and brushes that can work in tandem with whatever product you choose. It is recommended to exfoliate once or twice a week, depending on your skin's sensitivity.
4. Moisturize Daily
Another important aspect of making the most of your next waxing session is to ensure that you are properly moisturizing. Dry skin breeds irritation, and out of irritation sprouts ingrown hairs. Moisturizing daily keeps your skin looking supple and smooth! Be sure not to moisturize the day of your wax, however, or else the wax may not adhere to the hair as effectively.
5. Utilize Treatments
Lastly, if you are prone to ingrown hairs or breakouts, it may be in your best interest to utilize one of the many spot treatments available on the market. Whether you have sensitive skin or oily skin, whether your primary concern is getting rid of redness or taming ingrown-related inflammation, there is a spot treatment out there for you.
